I spend a lot of time online during the day reading about all kinds of things. My days are spent at digg , reddit , somethingawful , nytimes , reuters , techcrunch and about 30 other sites. My google reader is huge. I spend a lot of time looking around for art news and information. I browse through etsy finding artists I like and usually buying stuff, much to the detriment of my crowded walls. Aaron Brothers sees me a couple times a week. There are a lot of specialized art based sites, but I found I was browsing through dozens to get all the info I found interesting. My newsreader basically read like my own personal blog, and with that I decided to create omgitsart.

The site started as a way for me to keep up with what I found interesting. If I find any news or artist interesting I do more research into it and put it all into a post.

Now how about I tell you a little about myself for those of you who are still reading.

My name is Ryan Allen. I’m a professional graphic designer by day and by night I fight crime as well as do a bit of painting. You can see some of my paintings for sale at Ryanallen.info and you can see my flickr page here . I’ve been pretty successful selling my paintings, I’ve been in a few small galleries and I am a Gawker artist . I won’t bore you with all the corporate design stuff I’m forced to produce to irk out a living, but I do really enjoy it.

I didn’t start this blog as a way to promote myself, although I may do that from time to time. I try to leave my own stuff out of most of the posts but every now and then I’ll put me in somewhere. I will always of course let you know when I’m doing that and I will try to cite all of my sources. I’m not here to claim others work as my own by any means. I find that a lot of blogs do this and it is pretty annoying, I like to know where the info I’m reading started from.
